The 2nd annual “Stogies and Steaks” Golf Tournament was a huge success, netting close to $40,000! We are very thankful to everyone who participated in the event, and especially to those who sponsored the event—your generosity and support has a positive impact on the children of the Yakima Valley by helping the John Hunter Foundation continue its mission.
The June 23 event was also a hit with the golfers—offering beautiful weather, delicious food and tempting auction items. Congratulations goes to Dale & Dick Graf, Randy Swift, and Wade Wagoner who took first place for Gross Team Score, and Greg Newman, Tony Jones, Kevin Wertenberger, and Robert Scott who took first for Net Team!
The side games broke up the shotgun tournament with some competitive rounds of Closest to the Pin, Longest Putt and Longest Drive. Congratulations to Rye Barrett and Jo Wagner for Closest to the Pin, Gary Jones and Natalie Newman for Longest Putts, and Don Connell and Jo Wagner for the Longest Drives. Golfers and non-golfers alike enjoyed live music with local favorite “Not Amy” during cocktail hour and a mouthwatering dinner of Filet Mignon, fresh vegetables, and dessert. The night concluded with a lively auction featuring a fishing getaway, hotel stays, a Kindle, fine cigars and more, led by auctioneer Paul Newman.
Save the date and join us for the 3rd annual Stogies & Steaks Golf Tournament, June 29, 2013! Next year’s event will only be better with more cigars, food, entertainment and prizes—don’t miss it!
Due to the popularity of the event, and the near-sell-out crowd from this year, we will be offering early Priority Registration to those who have attended the previous years’ tournaments (2011, 2012). New players can sign up for a wait-list, and register immediately following the Priority Registration, provided there are spots available. Priority Registration will open on February 1, 2013.
